Ouch

So today I went into the doctor for my follow up appointment. I must say I didn't  enjoy it at all. The doctor was behind so we wated to get called back for an hour. when we got back the nurse took off all the wraps and some were caught on the stitches so it really hurt. she then cleaned it and the doc came in. He said everything looked good and that next week when i came back we would take the stitches out and probably put the cast on. i now have what they call an uni boot on.. not exactly sure what it is but it is alot thinner and doesnt have much support so i keep bumping it and it really hurts! still using the pain meds every once in a while.

The top one is right after everything came off. Bottom one is cleaned one.

Highness of Boredom

So today is Sunday, 3 days post op. I am still taking my pain meds about every 4 hours. The past couple of days my activity has been low. Friday night Alison came back over because she was watching me Saturday while everyone went to Kato for wrestling. We sat and played Bubble Island for about 5 hours... beware!!! it is EXTREMELY addicting. I also shared some stories with her, like how earlier that day i completed my psychology test while i was high and only got one wrong! Saturday morning we got up and were very productive. We made breakfast and then sat down and made Tanners tie blanket together. When we finished that we sat down to play bubble island and eat chocolate to celebrate! :) Alison also enjoyed drawing some lovely designs on my crutches. They are pretty awesome! :D I thinki have the coolest crutches in town ;) Later i decided to "shower" by throwing my head over the tub... quite the adventure since i refused to let Alison help.... but a great butt work out for that one side. After that and a few more hours of bubble island and pizza bagels for lunch :) we went downstairs to watch movies. While we were watching movies Alison's mom and one of my favorite peoples ever, Shelley, brought us Dairy Queen Blizzards!!!! Mine was sooo yummy even though im not sure what kind it was. i think it was a banana split blizzard?? it was DELICIOUS!!! We watched Finding Nemo, Enchanted, and all but the last 15 minutes of  The Proposal before the power went out. The whole power outage was pretty entertaining... the first thing we hear is my sick brother whimpering in his room with a girl voice "What happened to my TV?!" After a few minutes we all congregated upstairs around dad's flashlight trying to find something to do. Almost all of the suggested activities needed electricity... at one point i got all excited and said "Oh! i have a night light in my room!!" started crutching then stopped realizing the power was out, "Damn it!" After about 15 minutes of whining we got to go get chinese. when we got back we were all sitting eating chinese and talking. Tanner was insulting my horrible singing abilities and saying that i was jealous that his were better... my comeback was "if i had any singing talent id be in choir... personally.. i think im more gifted at belching ." Then as dad is going through the paper he finds an add for fleet farm... "Aw Tiff they have Elf for $2.99... and frosty the snowman, and barbie the nutcracker" That is where Tanner cuts in "Aw thats a good one!! better than barbie goes to hollywood!" He then continues to talk about barbie movies and what happens in them like when Ken gets mad at Barbie and leaves and then goes to Hollywood to find her... I always knew my brother was in touch with his feminine side ;) After the power came back on Alison and i went back downstairs and watched Pirates of the Caribbean: At worlds end. Then Alison went home and i went to bed... Now its sunday and i am still having alot of pain in my foot so there is no way i am getting off of these pain meds any time soon :/ Hopefully i can find something fun to do today!! ill post some of the drawings Alison did on my crutches later!! Back with more later :)

The day after...

So the surgery was yesterday... check in was 830, we didnt go into surgery til about 10 something and i was headed home around 12... honestly i dont remember many of the details, i was pretty groggy. the doc said it was a success and they did range of motion afterwards and there was no popping. The first thing i did when i woke up yesterday was eat... of course. I had 4 pieces of toast with strawberry jelly, a chocolate pudding, and apple juice. Right now i have this fancy little.... well HUGE wrap on my leg until i go in again.
I find it oddly shaped and i complained about it pretty much all day yesterday, go figure haha. After i got released, dad and i went to Walmart to get my prescription, Elf!!!, and a few other things. still too dizzyi got one of those cool electric carts that you always want to drive around! i have to admit it may have been because felt faint, but it wasnt as cool as i expected. It was very slow and people kept getting in my way! After this Walmart adventure we realized  it was a bad idea for me to be out and about right after surgery, i got really pale and almost threw up but of course the bathroom was "closed for cleaning" when i needed to get in there! Needless to say we went home so i could lay on the couch. After school Alison and Zack stopped over to see me! It was nice to have some company and all but i must say i miss my E.L.Fudge double stuffed cookies that they all ate!! My bestest friend and babysitter ever, Chandra, came over with a strawberry banana smoothie from DQ around 430 ish i think. After Alison and Zack left we went downstairs to watch ELF!!! :) buddy the elf what's your favorite color?? She did a great job putting up with me asking a zillion questions, repeating some cuz i didnt remember what she said, an waiting on me hand and foot! she even made me mac and cheese andcleaned out my bucket!! Word of the wise... you may feel fine after surgery, but do not eat... you are just asking for some nice quality time with a bucket!! Now it is 7am and i have been up since 6. The pain in my foot is pretty bad now.... it's kinda throbbing and the incision site really really itches!!!  I took some pain meds but they have yet to kick in. Im sort of hungry but scared to eat because i do not want anymore quality time with a bucket!! well this is what has been going on so far... im going to try to go back to sleep... more to come later!

intro

So here's the start of my long road to recovery. I figured I would do this to keep me busy since I will be bored. Tomorrow I am having surgery to fix my peroneal tendon subluxation. They are going to do a retinaculum repair. A little background of it all... throughout my years as an athlete I have had many sprained ankles, some minor, some pretty bad.. during one of those sprains i tore my retinaculum. i was suddenly able to pop my peroneal tendon out and over my lateral malleolus and snap it back down. Some times after that when i got sprains it would pop out a lot when i was running or playing soccer but if i took a few days off it would be fine. This year while i was playing soccer i sprained my ankle and my peroneal tendon got very tender and started popping out every time i walked. Went into the doctor and they told me i needed surgery so i have been in a walking  boot for about a month now and go in for surgery tomorrow.
